Parks and Attractions
The great respect for nature makes the Maremma and the Argentario a small paradise where the Mediterranean scrub is the master. It is no coincidence that the first WWF oasis in Italy was created in Orbetello. Here, among the various animal species, every year we welcome pink flamingos in the lagoon of Orbetello.
Pink flamingos from the French Camargue come to winter and spring in the lagoon of Orbetello.
The highest attendance, in general, is in December. The morning is the best time to see them.
There are also 2-3 days a year when the west lagoon becomes really all pink due to the massive presence of flamingos. A rare and unforgettable show but, unfortunately, unpredictable.
A few kilometers from this small corner of natural paradise you can visit the beautiful Tarot Garden and many nature reserves including the Maremma Park, one of the largest national parks in Italy and the first natural park in Tuscany.
The Garden of the Tarot
The visit to this fantastic place will not leave you indifferent.
Perfect for children but not only… immerse yourself in its magical atmosphere.
The artist who designed it wanted to build
“a small corner of paradise where man and nature meet”.
The Tarot Garden is a private garden, designed by the French artist Niki de Saint Phalle, with the collaboration of many local artisans. It houses giant sculptures, completely covered with precious glass tiles, mirrors and ceramics, representing the 22 cards of the Major Arcanes.
You don’t need a guide to visit it: everyone will find their own path, being inspired by the sensations of the moment.
With the tarot garden, Niki de Saint Phalle has realized the dream that few artists have had the privilege to implement: immerse yourself completely in your art to the point of “living” within their works.
