Food and wine
The Maremma cuisine is famous for its simple dishes, but extremely rich in flavors.
A cuisine that has ancient origins and draws its basic elements from the peasant traditions and marinate: natural ingredients for dishes born poor (as much of the Tuscan cuisine) but with genuine flavors and often intense.
Among the typical and traditional dishes occupy a prime place vegetable soups (acquacotta and ribollita), fish soups, game dishes and especially wild boar.
But you can not go home without having tasted delicious pappardelle to the hare or tortelli stuffed with chard and ricotta seasoned with meat sauces, salami, sausages, cheeses, recipes based on fresh fish caught in the waters of the Tyrrhenian Sea.
They accompany the typical dishes of the Maremma, fine wines DOC, which enhance the unique flavors of local culinary tradition, and the prestigious extra virgin olive oil i.g.p. Toscano.
You can enjoy all this in the producing companies, in the many restaurants and wine tours, or, more picturesque, in the numerous festivals that are organized in the villages of Maremma in all times of the year.
